Q: What is the Board of Directors and how do I get involved?
A: The Homeowners Association is a corporation, therefore, a governing body is required to oversee the Association's business. The Board of Directors is elected by the homeowners at the Annual Meeting in accordance with the provisions of the by-laws and The Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions. If you are interested in being on the Board, you can fill out the Board Interest Form and return it to the Association office.
Q: If I want to serve on a committee, how I can get involved?
A: You can view a summary of each committee and its meeting schedule here. If you are interested in volunteering your time on a committee, you call fill out our volunteer form. An Ewa by Gentry representative will contact you with more information and let you know if there are any vacancies currently available.
Q: What are the rules for flying a removable American Flag?
A: On July 24, 2005 President Bush, signed into law the Freedom to Display the American Flag Act which allows homeowners in community associations the right to fly a single, reasonably sized, removable American Flag on the resident's own property. The Act gives community associations the right to establish appropriate limitations on the size and locations of flags and flag poles in their communities. The measure also states that the flag must be displayed in accordance with the Federal Flag Code. Additional information regarding the flying of an American Flag can be found in the Community's Design Covenants.
Q: Is my home considered a single-familiy home or does it fall under the multi-family category?
A: If you reside in a condo or apartment, you live in a multi-family project and are a member of an Association of Apartment Owners. You can view the list of all Ewa by Gentry properties here and see what category your subdivision falls into.
Q: Where can I lookup what subdivision a particular street is located in? How do I know who owns the street?
A: A list of Ewa by Gentry streets is located here. The list will tell you what subdivision a street is located in and if the street is owned by the City and County of Honolulu or if it is still owned by the developer, Gentry Homes.
Q: What is being built on Keaunui Drive near Montecito/Tuscany?
A: This is Area 19 Park (not yet given a name) and is scheduled for completion in late summer. At this time, Gentry is constructing a park, irrigation system, lighting, comfort station (restrooms with running water), and parking lot. A copy of the preliminary plan can be viewed here. The Association is currently considering the following amenities in the area: a cross-walk, children's play-set, picnic tables, par-course stations, shade trees, signage, dog park, and animal clean-up stations. Q: I sometimes get frustrated with traffic when I drive in and out of Ewa, what alternatives are available?
A: The Leeward Oahu Transportation Management Association (LOTMA) has provided us with this flier that gives several transportation alternatives to those traveling to and from the Ewa area. Not only do these options help create less traffic by encouraging carpooling, they also benefit the planet by reducing carbon emissions.
